Sandblasting

Also referred to as abrasive blasting, this method forcibly propels a stream of sand with high pressure against a surface in order to smooth, shape, or remove contaminants. It effectively works similarly to sandpaper, but sandblasting provides a more even finish and is able to get into corners and indented or shaped areas better. Sandblasting is great for refurbishing work, such as on buildings, cleaning various items and surfaces including boat hulls, brick, stone, and concrete, or cleaning industrial or commercial structures, where it is rarely used on non-metallic surfaces.

Soda Blasting

Soda blasting is similar to sandblasting, but is more mildly abrasive. Instead of sand, this method utilizes sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda, as it’s more commonly known. Because it is considered non-destructive, it is very versatile, and can be used for cleaning, stripping paint and varnish, restoring automobiles, industrial equipment maintenance, removing rust, removing graffiti, cleaning and restoring masonry, and more. Soda blasting is mild enough that it was actually used to help restore the Statue of Liberty in the 1980s.

Dustless Steel Shot Blasting

Dustless steel shot blasting is an effective way to clean, strip or improve almost any metal surface. Steel shot is created by melting selected scrap in an electric induction furnace, which is then atomized and created into uniform round particles. The steel shot is available in a variety of sizes and hardness ratings that are used in different surface preparation applications. Thanks to the rounded shape, steel shot uses a peening action due to the acceleration of the shot that provides a thoroughly clean, smooth, and polished surface. All of our coatings are supplied by our local Sherwin Williams® commercial store and Body Shop Supply of La Crosse. Dustless steel shot blasting is commonly used on aircraft turbine blades, machinery crankshafts, and heavy duty springs.

Dual Action Sanding

Dual action sanding uses the benefits of both a belt sander and disc sander with the ability to move forward and backward continuously with some circular motion to achieve the desired finish. Using these tools, however, is not simple and requires quite a bit of finesse and know-how to properly remove surface defects and provide a consistent finish. This type of surface prep is best used for vehicle bodywork or accurately sanding metal or wood surfaces.

Power Washing

Power washing uses high-pressured water to help clean a variety of hard surfaces. Unlike pressure washing, power washing utilizes very hot water, making it more effective at removing dirt or other materials that are quite stuck. This can be used to clean off everything from dirt, salt, and mildew to chewing gum and grease stains.
